Shangrila was named after a book titled "LOST HORIZON" by Fames Hilton in the book , the authorĀ narrates a fictitious tale in which an airplane crash landed near a reaverbed,in the early 1920's.The surviving passengers came across some Buddhist monks from a nearby temple and sought their help,who took them to a lamasery which was very beautiful and filled with all sorts of fruites.The monks looked quite young,although they claimd to be hundreds of years old.This idyllic place was called Shangrila,a chinese word meaning"HEAVEN ON EARTH". Shagrila Resort skardu,also known as "Heaven On Earth",nested amongst some of world's highest peaks.It encricles the hearth shaped kachura lake,surrounded by fruit laden orchards and flower filled gardens.A vacation spent at shangrila Resort is a life time experience that one would want to relive again and again.Located at a height of 2500 meters,commonly known as "The Roof of the World",it is only a 15 minutes drives from skardu Airport.
